MINFOPRA and MINESEC meet with a group of Infuriated Teachers on the 23rd of May 2019

The previewed strike action that was planned for the 27th of May 2019 by a group of angry teachers, was finally cancelled, following a meeting that took place yesterday, 23rd May 2019 in the conference hall of the Ministry of Secondary Education.
According to these teachers, the origin of their problem is embedded in the numerous disciplinary sanctions that are meted upon teachers who practice in the crisis affected regions of the country( North West and South West). For Security reasons, they request that their authorising Ministries consider a redeployment for teachers practising in these regions.
After about an hour of discussions with these teachers, their spokes person Mr. Bessala resolved to cancel the strike action which does not represent the teacher's profession especially on the eve of the beginning of Public examinations in Cameroon. Their complaints were taken into consideration for further exploitation and durable solutions by the two Ministers, Joseph LE of the Ministry of the Public Service and Administrative Reform and Nalova Lyonga, of the Ministry of Secondary Education.
From every indication, the end of the meeting raises hope that, the baccalauréat exams which is supposed to begin on the 27th of May will hold in a convenient atmosphere.
