AIGLES AT E-GOVA: CAMEROON'S ANSWER TO A PAPERLESS AND CASHLESS AFRICA
Minister Joseph LE has positioned Cameroon’s civil service at the center of Africa’s digital future, presenting AIGLES — the Personnel and Payroll Management Application Software — as the country’s flagship answer to the E-GOVA Summit theme: “e-Gov and AI in Africa: Build an efficient public service in a paperless and cashless Africa.” This was during the launch of the E-GOVA Summit taking place from October 15-17, 2026 in Yaoundé.
Speaking at the E-GOVA Africa Summit Expo and Awards at the Palais des Congrès on October 15, 2026, under the chairmanship of the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, Mrs Minette Libom Li Likeng, Minister Joseph LE said AIGLES was conceived not just as payroll software, but as the core infrastructure for an AI-driven, paperless administration. With deployment now at over 80%, the platform is already centralizing recruitment, career management, promotions, retirement, and salary processing on one secure system.
In his presentation, the Minister highlighted AI as a tool to improve decision-making, predict needs, and enhance public service delivery. However, its success depends on strong data management and secure systems. His speech stresses that digital transformation in public administration requires strategic planning, process reform, and continuous improvement, and its benefits include centralized data, automated processes, reduced bureaucracy, and better citizen services.
Summit participants received the presentation as evidence that AI in government is moving beyond concepts. For Cameroon, AIGLES is the bridge between policy and execution — linking e-government ambitions to the daily reality of 250,000+ public servants.
